超越快樂原則｜ Beyond the Pleasure Principle

當走進你心儀畫家的工作室時，你最期待的是什麼? 在北京四環外的小小空間簡潔俐落正如畫家本人、蓼蕭說起畫來時發亮的眼睛配上爽朗的笑聲，頓時讓我覺得如果能介紹給大家認識這麼一位藝術狂熱份子該多有趣。很高興這次在台北十方為蓼蕭辦台灣首次個人展覽。初為人母的蓼蕭在創作上產生了非常大的改變，畫面脈絡更趨向理性發展，從容不迫的表達出感官的接收及發訊，在技法上更隱含著速度所引出的晃動光線，人物像被凝結定格於空間之中，時間似被抽離而純真的釋放出冷冽卻溫暖的光芒。

看蓼蕭作畫就像苦行僧為了克服空腹感，將加溫後的石頭抱在懷裡，在虛實之中與自己角力。蓼蕭自己也說:「 再說繪畫方式，我暫且放下那種流動速度的筆觸，嘗試慢下來，享受繪畫帶給我的樂趣，我還要更慢、再慢一點兒，慢慢的展開畫面、充分進入死磕狀態，儘量完完整整的把要說的話說完善。」 蓼蕭的繪畫多半以部分人體為中心，細膩樸拙的筆意和沉澱的色彩，使得人體成為畫面中最飽滿的聚焦點，畫面是充滿韌性、帶有點神經質的心理剖析，存在於感性與理性之間的對比興味。就像佛洛依德心裡元素上的分離過程中所激發出探索欲力儲存庫(reservoir of libido)的迴路，蓼蕭的人物重現了在迴路上撿拾起的碎片重組的心理狀態，更以紀念碑的姿態記錄著重組拆解、拆解重組的過程與想像。畫面中心的人體與畫布上其他空間一樣重要也彼此需要，缺一不可，告訴著我們超越快樂原則之後，霎那的彩虹也能永恆。

What exactly are you looking for when you first walk into the studio of the artist that you admire? This airy and neat space outside the 4th Ring of Beijing truly reflects its owner’s characteristics. When Lu Xiao talks about painting, with her glowing eyes and cheerful laughter, makes me wonder how interesting it would be to introduce this art fanatic to my friends. I am excited to introduce the first exhibition of Lu Xiao here in Galerie OVO Taipei. Lu Xiao’s ways of painting have changed since she became a mother. The context of her works has led into a more rational revelation, expressing one’s perceptions of sensuality and aesthetics. With the glowing lights she created on canvas, these portraits remind me of the glaciers where time seems to be irrelevant yet existing with a state of tranquility and warmth.

Watching Lu Xiao paint is like looking at a Buddhist monk, hugging a heated stone to ease the feeling of hunger, searching for the ways of defining one’s existence between illusion and reality. “When it comes to the way of painting, I try to let free the swiftly flowing brush, slow down and enjoy the pleasure of painting itself. I want to keep this slow pace which allows the drawings to develop themselves. I often find myself entering to some sort of meditating state of mind, and try to complete its meaning of this process.” says Lu Xiao. Most of her paintings focus on human extremities as the main figures of composition, as they’re beautifully orders, coolly pristine and successfully rendered, making them the most abundant feature created by her delicate techniques and subtle pigments. These portraits are full of tenacity, and even lead the viewers undergo with psychoanalysis which unconsciousness can be empathized from one person to another, deriving the euphoric balance of senses and sensibility. Just like the reservoir of libido of Freud’s separation of psychological elements, where consciously and subconsciously awareness are realized by picking up the bits and the scraps, and therefore the paintings can be served as the monuments which imprint the transpersonal perspective on the collective unconsciousness and vise versa. Every part of the canvas is essential. And all of a sudden, there is a rainbow of eternal beyond the pleasure principle.
