「現在式」一展所展現的系列繪畫,顏料如同小水珠般滲出於畫布,
「動作的重量」則是一系列雕塑與裝置,

About
In my works the narrative is in the behavior of materials and in the way they are in relation to each other.
Present tense is a series of paintings where paint pops out from the canvas as tiny drops, or glows behind it. Canvas is not just a background for an image or for the movement of paint, but its features affect the event essentially. It stops or lets through, shows something, or prevents from seeing. Feels like the process could still continue and we might see a different painting after a moment. The series contains both figurative and abstract works. The themes of the figurative paintings are iconic, easily recognizable images, such as flowers, animals and landscapes. The non-figurative paintings focus on gestures, movement and touch.
Weight of motion is a series of sculptures and installations. These works form of lines that are composed in a way that resembles fast sketch like motion of drawing. The works hang from the ceiling with evident, strongly visible hanging materials, such as metal chain, hooks and black thread. These concrete materials create contrast to the intangible impression of movement. They capture the abstract gestures to dull reality, with all its limitations, but on the other hand faithfully support fragile forms that would otherwise just fall and crack into pieces.
The exhibition in Howl Space consists of paintings and installations from these two series of works, and a live painting performance Big Orange accompanied by sound artist Tomoko Taki.
