簡介：
韓國藝術家吳世烈的繪畫作品，承襲著單色畫的精神，但他以一種原始童稚的筆觸展現藝術家對繪畫本質的探索，藉由隨意的塗鴉及簡約的線條回歸藝術創作最純粹的境界，在某種程度上試圖改寫主流藝術對傳統繪畫的基本觀念。此次展覽將回顧吳世烈的歷年佳作，並展出2016的全新作品，呈現吳世烈最完整的創作脈絡。
吳世烈1945年出生於首爾韓國，1969年畢業於韓國Surabeul美術學院繪畫系，1974年獲得中央大學美術學院碩士學位，現任教於韓國牧園大學美術系。曾數次參加國內外的藝術展覽與博覽會，包括2013年比利時布魯塞爾Off藝術博覽會、2012年加拿大多倫多藝術博覽會、2008年韓國首爾泉水邊畫廊個展、1998年韓國國立當代美術館、1996年印度國家藝廊新德里國際當代藝術節及1988年美國洛杉磯藝術博覽會。作品被韓國果川國立當代美術館、韓國大田美術館、韓國首爾Leeum三星美術館、韓國日報博物館及美國洛杉磯Frederick Wiseman美術館所收藏。
Korean artist Oh Seyeol inherits spiritual values of Korean monochrome paintings, however, he attempts to challenge the conventional notions of painting by using automatic drawing and crude lines to retract creative practice back to its simple and pristine state. In this exhibition, Art Issue Projects presents comprehensive scale of Oh Seyeol ‘s art from early age to latest selection in 2016.
Oh was born in Seoul. Korea in 1945 and he graduated from painting Department of Surabeul Art College in 1969. He received his MFA from College of Arts, Chung-Ang University in 1974. He currently teaches at the Fine Art Department of Mok-Won University. Oh’s work has been exhibited domestic and internationally in institutions such as Off-Art Fair, Brussels, Belgium (2013); Art Toronto, Canada (2012); Wellside Gallery, Seoul, Korea (2008); National Contemporary Museum, Korea (1998); National Gallery, India (1996) and L.A. Art Fair, U.S.A. (1988). Oh’s work has been collected by museum and art institutions worldwide, including the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Gwa-cheon. Korea; Daejeon Museum of Art, Daejoen, Korea; Leeum Museum, Seoul, Korea; the Museum of Han-Kook Ilbo, Seoul, Korea and Frederick Wiseman Collection, L.A., U.S.A.
